Artful Living

little minutes

When I was a young girl, I would run to a neighbors for my weekly piano lesson. I will not divulge my teachers name, but I really loved saying her name. My Mom’s knew each other and I guess I knew that they would speak about my progress and my level of skill, whenever they had a minute between taking care of their respective homes and families.

Today, I think about those minutes, the metronome ticking and my hands tickling the ivories. As we sat on that piano bench, I thought time seemed to stop. The minutes felt like seconds. The drone of the metronome was loud and bothersome to begin with, and then after I lost myself in the rhythm of the music.
Do you lose yourself in little minutes of the rhythm of learning something new? Do you allow yourself a few extra minutes to lose yourself in something fun each day?
