Artful Living
Black and White
June 1, 2009
I first rough out the sketch in pencil, then use a micron pen to define the areas, working from the upper left hand corner down in order to keep my work clean. I do not use a ruler, I find that it makes the lines too straight, and I like lines that have character and that are broken.
For the leaves, I try to keep the lines loose, and focus on the positive space.
When I am satisfied as well as the client – I then do a wash of water-colour. I love heavy water color paper, but for these, I am quite satisfied with Vellum.
Are you sketching now or feel inspired to try to draw. There is nothing like drawing or painting!
